The variety of characters on display is impressive and hugely varied with each being as dark and imposing as the next. Every image is beautifully done and as inspirational as you can get. Instantly we’re thrown into a variety of vampires, dead cowboys, mutants and post apocalyptic warlords. It really highlights the importance of practice, practice, practice. The timeline is a great “pick me up” for those that want to improve their art. We start with a small timeline of Brom’s creative abilities and by the age of 15, it’s clear he was always going to be exceptional. A glossy paperback with an image that screams “open me” it sets the tone for the dark themes inside.īrom is one of my favourite artists, alongside Frank Frazetta who depicts warlords and strange beings in traditional media. This book was published in 1997 and measures 24.13 x 1.27 x 28.58 cm with a page count of 128. He’s certainly one of the darker artists I’ve reviewed. He’s also worked on several movies including Ghosts of Mars (2001), Galaxy Quest (1999) and Van Helsing (2004). He’s been involved in projects which have been hugely popular including computer games Dungeons and Dragons, Heretic one and two, Diablo two, three and four and collectable card game Magic: The Gathering. For those that are a little unfamiliar with Brom and his work he is a gothic fantasy artist that carries out work in role playing games, novels and comics.
